1. Get organized.
At this time of year you’re bound to have a lot happening in your business and personal life. The last thing you need is to forget an appointment or miss a deadline. Take a moment to lay out everything in front of you and put it on a schedule. This will not only help you manage your time, but it will also show you if you’ve taken on too much or if you can handle a little more.
2. Set your employees up for success.
The key to avoiding feeling overwhelmed is to have staff that you can effectively delegate to. Make sure they are well informed and prepared to make decisions in your absence, if it becomes necessary.
3. Set reasonable hours for your business.
It is common practice for retailers to extend their hours for the holidays. This is a great practice if your business can manage the extra operating time and expenses. However, if trends show you that the sales you make after 8pm are not significant, there may not be a need to extend your hours until midnight. Optimize and capitalize on your online storefront and get more time back to yourself.
4. Manage your expectations.
This holiday season is a little closer to what we might call “normal”, but there is still much uncertainty in the air. This might scale back the numbers you might typically expect at the end of the year. Instead of focusing all your energy on your end-of-year sales, take some time to plan your opportunities in 2022.
5. Take care of yourself.
Most important of all, take time for you. The holidays are not just a time for everyone else to enjoy. Partake in the joys of the season, reflect, and be grateful.
